Baron de Barbon Gran Reserva
Baron de Barbon Gran Reserva - £13.49
Price on 30-Jul-10 from Laithwaites.
A rare release from the excellent 2001 vintage. Tiny amounts of this impressive wine were made from a few parcels of ancient vines on the highest slopes of the sun-drenched, terraced vineyards. These ancient plots yield complex, multi-layered wines - rarities well worth tracking down. Powerful damson and berry fruit, earthy truffles and nutmeg and a complex finish that lingers for hours. Please don't miss your chance to secure this superb Gran Reserva.

Waitiri Creek Pinot Noir
Waitiri Creek Pinot Noir - £13.49

''Very ripe nose with cherry and cranberry ... complex and engaging. Palate has notes of strawberry, orange zest and cherry with a silky finish. Excellent.'' (Robert Parker)

Gran Tarapaca Black Label Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon
Gran Tarapaca Black Label Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon - £13.49
Price on 30-Jul-10 from Laithwaites.
''Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon is without doubt one of the New World's great bargains'' (Tim Atkin) - and judging by this intensely ripe star, they're absolutely delicious too! Virtuoso winemaker, Cristian Molina selects the most concentrated grapes for this top-flight Cabernet and insists on expensive ageing French barriques before release. The result? Fantastic intensity of vanilla-scented cassis. Think super-ripe, very smart claret. Mature gems of this class are incredibly scarce ... don't miss out!

Altos R Rioja Reserva
Altos R Rioja Reserva - £13.49
Price on 30-Jul-10 from Laithwaites.
This delicious, silky red is from a bodega that's new to us, but not the man behind it, Jean-Marc Sauboua. It's from Rioja, without a doubt Spain's best-known wine region, the signature style of which is smooth, vanilla-scented, oak-aged reds - thanks in part to the winemakers of Bordeaux who settled here in the 19th century. This is a luscious, gently-oaked Rioja made purely from Spain's best-known grape, Tempranillo. It's been expertly crafted by our very own Jean-Marc Saboua and acclaimed winemaker Hector Gomez who previously worked at Pingus, Spain's premier estate bar none. Deep red in colour with masses of rich brambly fruit and toasty vanilla spice. Great with hearty stews, char-grilled steak or served simply as a glass on its own.

Ross Estate Barossa Valley Old Vine Grenache 2004
Ross Estate Barossa Valley Old Vine Grenache 2004 - £13.89
Price on 30-Jul-10 from Laithwaites.
''Old bush vine Grenache is one of Australia's great secrets'' according to Tim Atkin, and judging by this luxuriously rich example, he's absolutely spot on! Teeming with ripe blueberry and sun-dried fruit character, Ross Estate Old Vine Grenache is a rare Aussie gem. But you'd expect nothing less from Rod Chapman, the legend behind Australia's most famous red, #100-a-bottle Penfold's Grange! Nestled in the sun-drenched plains of the famous Barossa valley - Australia's prime region for top class reds - Ross Estate is blessed with a scorching hot climate, ancient bush vines and cool, fresh breezes ... perfect for Grenache grapes to flourish! Brick-red in colour, with lots of chunky, earthy, red and black fruit flavours and a full finish. Enjoy a big glass along with your Sunday roast beef, or cranberry nut loaf.

Chateau Doisy-Vedrines (half bottle) 2006
Chateau Doisy-Vedrines (half bottle) 2006 - £13.99
Price on 30-Jul-10 from Laithwaites.
''Spice, honey, lemon and lime ... long and balanced. Almost 92-94'' Wine Spectator This superb 2nd growth Sauternes represents remarkable value when you consider the grapes are hand-harvested individually, not by bunch! Volumes are understandably tiny. Intense honeyed limes, hints of spice and minerals, rich yet fresh.

Chateau Les Grands-Marechaux 2006
Chateau Les Grands-Marechaux 2006 - £13.99
Price on 30-Jul-10 from Laithwaites.
Stephane Derenoncourt is the golden boy of Bordeaux winemaking and the man behind this ''outrageously good and fairly priced'' UK exclusive. (Robert Parker) Blaye is a treasure trove for claret fans in search of top quality and value ... and this estate is acknowledged as the standard bearer. This fine, Merlot-rich 2006 has a beautiful balance of currants, minerals and silky tannins. Classic.

Chateau de la Riviere 2001
Chateau de la Riviere 2001 - £13.99
Price on 30-Jul-10 from Laithwaites.
A cellar-essential for fans of dense, fleshy claret - ''smooth, refined with silky tannins, berry, vanilla and mineral character and a long finish'' says Wine Spectator ... we say grab all you can of this great 'insider's tip'. Fronsac may not at the forefront of your mind as the finest of clarets but let's not forget ''Historically, Fronsac took precedence over Pomerol. During the eighteenth century its wines were even drunk at court'' (Hugh Johnson, 'Wine Companion'). The superb Chateau La Riviere is a regular and prolific award-winner and stands out as the region's premier estate. The 2001, a classic vintage after the exceptional heat of the Summer, shows evolved aromas of plums, prunes, liquorice and spice. The palate is deliciously complex and generous with smooth tannins, good complexity and length. Serve with roast red meats.

Conde Galiana Gran Reserva (magnum) 2000
Conde Galiana Gran Reserva (magnum) 2000 - £13.99
Price on 30-Jul-10 from Laithwaites.
Powerful, perfectly mellow flavours - aged in premium American oak and brimming with dark fruit. Tempranillo comes in perfect harmony with Cabernet Sauvignon and Garnacha to create a fantastic centrepiece to any occasion.

Chateau du Bourg Laithwaite 2003
Chateau du Bourg Laithwaite 2003 - £13.99
Price on 30-Jul-10 from Laithwaites.
Chateau du Bourg seems quite an unassuming village house from the outside but on closer inspection you realise that every aspect of this flagship estate is finished to a very high specification. Not least of all the wine ... Hand-harvested, old vine Merlot fruit is pressed in a traditional wooden basket press. The heat of the day is kept at bay by massively thick, centuries-old limestone walls of the chai. This is the sister wine to Laithwaite's La Clariere and displays the same, classic characteristics as fine Saint-Emilion - which after all is just a mile or two down the road. Deeply coloured and fragrant thanks to a massively ripe vintage. Full and smooth with juicy black fruit, a hint of liquorice and well-integrated clove-scented oak. No surprise this wine has scooped three top, internationally recognised Silver medals ...
