Game Overview
The story follows Richard and his fiancee Claudia who decide to have a wedding on the moon (a bit farfetched we know, but bare in mind it's 2044). Whilst traveling to the moon the lucky couple encounter some problems and their shuttle is attacked causing them to lose control and crash on the moon. You guessed it, it's a "My Hero" kinda game, Richard wakes up after being knocked out for a while and the game begins.
There are a few really annoying aspects to Echo Night Beyond that will begin to grind your gears quicker than reality TV! Repetativness, Slugishness and the Sound effects. Sound effects are usualy the deciding factor in whether or not a game is actually scary or not, however not a lot of effort has gone in too the sound and rather than scare you half to death, they tend to bore and annoy you, you really are better off turning the sound down! There is no doubt about it, the game does have a certain scare elemant to it but give it an hour or so and you'll know when to expect them and they won't even make you flinch.
There are some really cool and individual features in Echo Night Beyond one of which is the health meter. If Richard sees a ghost whilst he is on his journey (which will definitely happen) he begins to panic and his heart beat increases, if it reaches over 300 bpm, he has a heart-attack and dies. The screen also blacks out once you escape a situation like that and slowly goes back to normal vision once you calm yourself down by standing still, away from the problem you encountered. Great features to have in any game and very impressive that someone actually thought of doing this, we can't actually think of any games in the past that have included anything like this so the game went up in our books for this alone.
A massive plus side to this game is that it has four different endings depending on what you did in the game, unfortunately it didn't entise us enough to actually load it back up and we do feel that including this was just a cheap shot at trying to improve the lacklustre gameplay, for some people this may work, but with us, it's going to take a lot more than that.

Our Conclusions
Echo Night Beyond is without a doubt a try before you buy game, it's going to appeal to a certain audience, unfortunately we dont think that we are part of that audience and it probably won't be finding it's way back in to our Playstation. It is however a good attempt at a thriller title and thriller fans will probably take a liking to it, nothing special but we have seen a lot worse!
Overall Score: 6/10
