Game Overview
We are quite lucky actually; we have guys in the office that are interested in NFL, NBA and NHL. So getting our heads around the rules of NFL was not to much of an issue for us, but we do recommend either reading a huge rule book on the game, watching game after game of NFL with someone who knows what they are talking about or just keep plugging away at the games, and eventually you will get there.
ESPN NFL is up against the usual sports competitor EA and their legendry Madden series of quarterback sacking, touchdown passing games! Needless to say it is going to have to be one heck of a game to beat an EA game!
Of the three ESPN games NFL is the best one! Without a shadow of a doubt! The commentary is brilliant; the graphics are smooth flowing, precise and interesting. Before the game there is a clip of the players warming up and talking to each other whilst the commentators tell you who to look out for in "tonight’s game". It is just like watching a real game on TV! You can hear the players complaining when they get injured; the celebrations are brilliant and funny! The game cuts to the crowd at a break to see them with their faces painted either cheering or booing, depending on how you played the last play!
There is an awful lot to remember, lots of buttons do lots of different things, on top of that you have to remember how to actually play American Football! But like we said, this will get easier with time!
As you play the game you get rewarded "crib points" for throwing a 40 yard touchdown pass, or scoring your first field goal. These points can be used to purchase items for your very own Crib (crib is a house, just incase you didn't know) leather sofa's, huge cinema screen TV's, statues etc OK so you don't actually get to live in your dream crib but it is cool designing what you want it to look like, a really good addition to the game if you need a break from annihilating your opponents!

Our Conclusions
By far the better of the three ESPN games, takes a lot of getting used to and without reading the instruction manual, it doesn’t give a lot away! If you think you might like it, you will! There is something about ESPN NFL that makes it very addictive and a very playable game. It packs a challenge too!
Overall Score: 8/10
