FIFA Street by EA
Available on PS2, Xbox and Gamecube

FIFA Street has been eagerly anticipated for quite a while now and we couldn't wait to get our hands on it, however we were thinking that it was just going to be FIFA 2005 re boxed with a few extra tricks you can do, but to be honest, that statement couldn't be more further from the truth.

Game Overview
FIFA Street has finally been released and created quite a stir; it has boosted the EA Big portfolio and also boosted the reputation of EA to being somewhat of a "with it" company.

We were immediately stunned and amazed by the entrance movie, the graphics, the colour, the sound, the SKILLS! It was breathtaking watching the likes of Ronaldinho, Beckham, Rooney (all computer images) free styling with a football, it seemed as though the entrance movie was there to set you up and you where just waiting for the game to knock you down and blow you away! Well it did just that, and more!!

FIFA Street combines players from all over the world and brings them altogether in some unusual surroundings for example a basketball court in New York. Then its a test of nerve and skill to beat some of the most skillful showboaters in the world in a 5-a-side match where scoring isn't really the main objective but turning on the style with keepy uppys, round the worlds and stepovers is, and the more you freestyle the more "bills" you will earn yourself.

The standard exhibition match lets you pit country v country and allows you to choose the 5 players you will let step on the pitch, chose wisely because as we all know showboating is about control, flair and agility! Play against your mates, the computer, play for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, first to 5 goals, chose whatever you want just make sure that you light up that pitch.

"Rule the Street" mode is the "Career" mode of the game, model yourself into the game and you will be set as the team captain, then chose your team from a average set of players slowly working your way through opponents and winning tournaments to unlock better and more skillfull players to add to your side, before long you will be playing alongside the likes of Henry, Ronaldo and the ultimate showboater Jay Jay "So good they name him twice" Okocha.

Unfortunately FIFA Street is a little bit of a let down in some areas. The soundtrack could do with a bit more variety and the commentary guy really gets annoying after a while so you will find yourself turning him off after a couple of games. One other huge thing that FIFA Street is crying out for is Online Gaming, but sadly it hasn't got it, bit of a let down considering that FIFA 2005 was online enabled and just think of what you could get up to playing online. We also found that some of the goals that you scored deserved a much better and longer replay but extended replays is not an option and 9 times out of 10 you only get to see the shot on goal rather than the silky skills that led up to it, and it would be really good if you could save the replays but unfortunately that has been missed out too, but the good thing is that the game is packed full of incredible tricks and skills so even though you can't save the replay it wont be long till you are more impressed with something else you have pulled off!

Our Conclusions
With the addition of Online gaming and a little bit of a touch up on the sounds side of the game then this would be as near perfect as possible, no wonder this game is hard to get hold of, it really is a stunner. Completely different to FIFA 2005 and a million times better! EA, pure genius!

If you have always wanted to tour some of the biggest stadiums England, we might be able to help you out with a Stadium Tour.

Overall Score: 7/10

Traditional 11-a-side games have always fared badly next to the giants ( Pro Evolution and FIFA Football), so it's brave of Acclaim to attempt something different with Urban Freestyle Soccer.
