Game Overview
Enough games have come and gone over the years which involve re-enacting WWII, Call of Duty, Medal of Honour etc..... but there hasn't been many WWII Flight Sim games appear on the black box, we aren't quite sure why either! But now that has all changed and Heroes of the Pacific is landing on our PS2 and you heard it from us, this is a GOOD game!
So what's so good about this game? Well, for us the anticipation of waiting for a decent flight sim game meant that this was a good game even before we had played it! Then when we switched on our beloved Playstation and began the onslaught it just got better and better and BETTER!
The story mode on the game is the main feature, basically your brother is killed by the Japs in Pearl harbor and it is your duty to make the Japanese pay for what they did, a revenge game is always great fun!
OK, that's the boring storyline bit out of the way! We are going to say this now, whilst reading the rest of our review start thinking of ways you can get some dosh together so you can buy this game! By the end of this review you are going to be dyeing to get hold of this, even if you don't like flight sim games!
Heroes of the Pacific boasts one of the most amazing features in any game of all time, we were shocked to hear that there can be up to 150 planes in the sky at one time, each with full AI and physics, how sweet is that! The sky is literally crawling with Fighters, Dive Bombers, Torpedo Bombers and Bombers! Man the machine guns and torpedoes and get destroying!
There is so much to do in Heroes of the Pacific you won't be lost for entertainment, the lifespan of this game is quite incredible, although on some missions there is so much going on that its quite hard to know where you should be going and what you should be doing but just make use of the radar and the direction arrows and you shouldn't have to much of a problem to contend with, we actually found that the amount of stuff going on around you and in front of you actually made the game!
The better you get at the game the more planes you will unlock although some of them have to be unlocked in Ace level difficulty which is pretty hard, so good luck with that! If you want to step it up a level then just jump online and play people from around the world, it basically plays just like a FPS with Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag etc etc with 8 people all battling it out with each other it makes for great entertainment and extends the lifespan of the game!

Our Conclusions
Heroes of the Pacific is a great game, Codemasters have realized a genre which hasn't really been exploited and have done what they needed to do! Online gaming is fantastic; the story mode is brilliant and the multiplayer is pretty good too. You are a complete nutter if you don’t have this game in your collection, it is brilliant!
Overall Score: 8.5/10
