Game Overview
Ice Age 2: The Meltdown follows the general storyline found in the movie, prehistoric, cold, icy, and loads of weird animals, players will come across Manny the mammoth, Sid the sloth, and Diego the smilodon. However unlike most games of this nature you don't actually take control of the main characters, most of the time we played Ice Age 2 we played as Scrat the little squirrel dude who is constantly chasing the acorn!
So basically, the storyline is that due to Global Warming the ice is all melting and the "bowl" they are in will soon be swamped with water and taking everything out in it's path, unless there is anything the main characters Manny, Sid and Diego can do about it.
The graphics as usual are very bright and colourful however sticking with the trend of kids games the attention to detail is pretty poor, however the characters themselves do look half decent and the movements and the way Scrat controls is quite clever and well thought out.
As with most games of this genre (Kiddies Film games we will call it) the gameplay does tend to get a little tedious and predictable after a while, a lot of jumping, collecting and puzzle solving that kids seem to stroll right through whereas adults for some reason seem to lack the part of the brain that allows them to complete such a simple task and end up getting frustrated and consequently snapping the game.
