Game Overview
The game doesn't really do much for us as the 'older' generation but the kids will love it, again it's the trademark colourful, bouncy platformer game where you have to complete certain goals, defeat annoying little creatures and collect the all too familiar collectables. Smash boxes to find collectables, lives and more but don't get too smash happy as there could be something lurking behind one of them ready to leap at you. You know exactly what kind of game Scaler is going to be don't you!
The attacks you have in Scaler are your fists (of course) and your long red tongue which you can use to beat up baddies and destroy boxes, you can also change in too different creatures which will give you different attacks to get past certain stages in the game. Don't think that you can jump straight into this game Scaler does actually take a little bit of thinking and some tactics you in order to be able to change into different types of animals first of all you must beat them, which isn't all that easy as im sure we are all aware these games can be quite a challenge.
You wont be jumping for joy with Scaler but like we have said kids all over the place will love it, its colourful, lively, simple(ish) and will keep them entertained for hours, Scaler reminds us of classics like Spyro, Crash and Jak & Daxter but we don't think it quite makes the mark that those games set a while ago, don't get us wrong this isn't a bad game, we actually found it quite addictive and wanted to carry on to see what happened, but it just felt like there was something missing. The vine skating is great fun, watch Scaler go, definitely the best part of the game and something the game can be remembered for.

Our Conclusions
Scaler provides hours of entertainment for the kids but not all that different from past classic platformers, the £19.99 rrp reflects the kind of game you are getting but we think its well worth twenty quid. Once you have finished with it pass it on to your kid brother for a Christmas present and you can't go wrong! We were going to give Scaler an official BlokesOnly rating of 5/10 but as we are big lizard lovers the official BlokesOnly rating is??..
Overall Score: 5.5/10
Thanks to BlokesOnly's King of Games Chris Swanson and Adrian Lawton from Take Two, without them this review would not be possible.
