Game Overview
Shadow of Rome is based around, well, Romans! Doesn't take a rocket scientist to work that one out, does it now!!?? But if you haven't heard of this game yet we are sure you will within time. It's class!!
To cut a long story short, you play the parts of two characters, Agrippa (a Roman Centurion) and Octavius (Some Bloke who is friends with Agrippa). Agrippa's father apparently murders Caesar but Agrippa doesn't know anything about it, as he is out killing people and generally being a Roman Centurion! However, Octavius does know about it and lets Agrippa know when he returns home after hearing about the news of Julius Caesar dying, they both then set out to save Agrippa's Dad! Hope that makes sense to you! If it doesn't then just go and buy the game, you will soon catch on!
Right, now we have explained that we can tell you about the game itself! Shadow of Rome has successfully combined two game genres, Action and Adventure, when you play as Agrippa you are fighting your way through Centurions, Tigers, Gladiators and anything else that decides they want to try and kill you (trust us there are quite a few), then on the flip side, when you play as Octavius you are in too the adventure side of the game have to solve puzzles, don disguises and be extremely sneaky in order to find out clues. Basically this game is a cross between Broken Sword and Dynasty Warriors!
You will find yourself getting so wound up whilst playing as Octavius, simply because you can't work out how to sneak past some Centurions to get a Key or Rope or anything that you must have in order to advance to the next stage, but however annoyed you get, you wont physically be able to put that controller down, you will want to keep trying and trying and trying until you accomplish what you set out to do. You are probably thinking "Why didn't they just use a walkthrough from the internet", well we get games before the release date and there wasn't one available as no one had yet played the game!!!! So, we gritted our teeth and got on with it! Think Logically!!

Our Conclusions
Shadow of Rome, like we have already said combines Action and Adventure very well! It keeps you interested to a level that you don't get bored doing the same thing over and over! The graphics are pretty darn good especially in the opening sequence and we couldn't think of anything we would rather be doing on a cold February night, than chopping peoples heads off and crushing their skulls with Mace's! Top Bombing!!
Overall Score: 8/10
Thanks to Chris Swanson (BlokesOnly.com's King of Games), Stuey for his logical thinking on this one and Bastion for making this review possible.
