Game Overview
Sonic Gems is a collection of classic Sonic games, just like Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Mega Collection Plus, this time you are presented with timeless classics such as: Sonic CD, Sonic The Fighters, Sonic R which featured on the Sega Saturn as well as 6 of the finest Game Gear games ever made, Sonic Spinball, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic The Hedgehog Triple Trouble, Sonic Drift 2, Tails' Skypatrol, and Tails Adventures.

The RRP on Sonic Gems is £19.99, so as we all know; games that don't hit the full £34-£39.99 price tag aren't going to be anything special. To be honest to charge that much for Sonic Gems would be a crime, and we are pretty sure no one would buy it.

Unfortunately Sonic Gems isn't the best collection of Sonic games that have been made, they were re-released early 05, this compilation of games is purely mopping up the excess, eking out the sonic name a little bit more and trying to make a bit of money from the people who like to remember the old days as well as the hardcore must have sonic devotees!

Just think, in 20 years time they might be making a compilation CD of todays Sonic games! Anythings possible!

Our Conclusions
Sonic Gems didn't impress us all that much, Sonic games are good but as we weren't huge fans on the Game Gear when it was about we fail to see the fascination with this mix. Although it will definitely appeal to the hardcore Sonic fans and without a doubt should not be missed out on, to complete that collection, at the end of the day its Sonic the Hedgehog, you know what you are getting!
