Game Overview
The Barnyard has been released through THQ who jumped on the band wagon taking The Barnyard off of the bid screen and on to consoles, with releases on the PS2, PC, Gamecube, Gameboy Advance and the Wii it's a dead cert that 99% of kids around the world will be wanting to get the Barnyard.
Having spent quite a lot of time running around the weirdest farm we have ever come across as a talking cow we can now confirm that there is nothing we haven't done on a computer. We have been James Bond, played as Wayne Rooney, managed Wayne Rooney, driven super cars around world famous circuits, we have even been to space and back, but never had we played the part of a talking cow, until now, of course.
We can't say that The Barnyard appealed to us all that much, so if you think you can invest your money into something that you will be able to enjoy as well (we know most of you do) this isn't the case, The Barnyard doesn't really give you anything different to what we have experienced from other Animated Big Screen converts, apart from the talking cow part! Which also, by the way, is male, and squirts milk? Talk about confusing the little ones!!
As with most of these kinds of games it is very colourful and a very happy game to play which will entertain little Billy for hours and most importantly keep him out of your way, which will leave you more time to do more adult things like...............ermmmm............reading a book?? The Barnyard does put a smile on your face whilst playing as there is quite a silly level of humour which will really appeal to youngsters and 30 year olds who have a mental age of a 5 year old!
The gameplay is fairly straight forward and not really all that challenging, although we aren't 5 years old anymore! You are required to run around collecting bits and pieces, take part in mini games and also the storyline missions, so there is plenty to do, the norm really!

Our Conclusions
It's no doubt going to be a massive hit with the younger generation ranging from 3 up to maybe as high as 13-14 years old, but it really isn't a game that works on both adult and child levels. Fans of the movie will definitely appreciate the game. We struggled to get our heads around it to be honest and there are a few other games out there we would rather spend our money on, if we were 5 years old again it would be top of our Christmas list!
Overall Score: 7/10
Thanks to THQ and Trilogy.
