Game Overview
Lair was widely anticipated around the world with Sony making a huge fuss over the release of video clips and trailers on the Sony network shop. Apparently it was set to wipe the floor with every game known to man, it was going to be the best looking and most engrossing game ever made according to fans but unfortunately what was served up was quite the opposite and a massive disappointment.

We'll start with a positive though as we feel it's definitely worth telling you guys about, the graphics. Graphics whoares are going to wet themselves when they see what Lair has to offer on that front. Lair is one of the best games we have seen on the PS3 to date! Absolutely stunning to say the least and definitely a game that shows the potential of the PS3, just thinking about future titles once developers have gotten used to the PS3 makes us dribble with excitement, if they can manage something like this now think what will be on offer in a couple of years time!

Unfortunately Sony fans, that is about as good as it gets for Lair! What should have been a stable and reliable title that the PS3 could fall back on turned out to be a throw away title hardly worth looking at twice and one that certainly won't be remembered because it was good! The main reason behind this is the control system and the fact that they were so anxious to get the six axis included that they forgot about anything else! But if you are going to put effort into using a new technology for gaming then make sure you get it right! The six axis usage is absolutely terrible and honestly makes the game unplayable at times. As you are "controlling" your dragon and flying through canyons and enclosed spaces you'll forever be bouncing off invisible walls as you attempt to turn! Apparently X is go forwards, and the six axis is the steering, well if that is steering then we'd hate to see the blokes driving skills who thought up the idea of using the six axis, right turns are impossible and you find yourself praying for a wide open area where all you have to do is fly straight forwards. Don't even ask about locking on to rival dragons during flight, pure luck if you manage it!

The game tries to keep people interested by having online leader boards in which you are able to compare yourself against the best gamers in the world and of course your mates but it isn't enough to keep us or most people interested. Lair is just to frustrating to continue playing, the six axis doesn't work and that is the main let down above anything else.

Our Conclusions
Beautiful graphics that a lot of people will enjoy but this is a perfect example of developers putting too much effort in to the graphical ability and spending all of five minutes with the gameplay side of things. Potentially Lair could have been great, it could have been that 3rd ground breaking game that Sony made it out to be, but, at the end of the day, it wasn't, and it was highly disappointing.
