Game Overview
Championship Manager has been running for years, longer than any of us care to remember, but this is the first time that it has appeared on a handheld (we think), console versions have been released but for us never really hit the mark like the PC versions did so well for many years.

Championship Manager on the PSP means that fellow management fans can take their team to success on a Plane, Train or Car and not suffer from the violent withdrawal symptoms that occur with spending more than an hour away from the PC, it pains us so much sometimes that pulling a sicky or not attending your best mates wedding is a necessity, just think, now you can play it sitting at the back of the church, just remember not to cheer when you score or shout obscenities when the ref sends of your young starlet. Don’t think it will go down to well!

Championship Manager has had background music included with it on the PSP, now, we aren't against background music on games, sometimes it makes life a lot less stressful having a quite tune playing, it sometimes spices things up a bit, however, the background music on this is quite possibly the most annoying tune we have ever heard. It doesn't relax you, it doesn't entertain you it just drives you absolutely insane! Make sure you turn the volume down otherwise your next long journey will be to the nut house!

The game plays almost exactly the same as the PC games, just what you would imagine. We do feel that the game could do with a Arrow pointer that you move around the screen with the analogue stick rather than having to scroll through every single button on the screen, it does get a bit confusing when you first start playing the game but eventually you get used to it, the use of shortcut keys is handy at times and we would recommend finding out the shortcuts.

If you haven't got hours and hours and hours to play Championship Manager then exclusive to the PSP are two other game scenarios, there is a 3 season Quick play feature although this still does take a while and seemed a little bit pointless as you can opt to finish a full game whenever you want. The other is a Championship Manager Challenge.

A really impressive feature of Championship Manager is that you can hook up your PSP to your PC and download all the latest stats and transfers, something that we were a little bit worried about, its ok being able to update your PC version once in a while but how would they adapt this for the PSP, well they have managed it and the guy that thought of this deserves a medal!

Our Conclusions
All the usual features and more, what else could you ask for from a management sim and your PSP, Championship Manager is obviously going to have some stiff competition in the next couple of months in the form of Football Manager but we feel that CM should hold its own and the battle will be a fair one. There is still a long way to go till Football Management Sims on handhelds and consoles play as well as the PC versions, it is a very good attempt but it wont pull you away from your PC.
