Practical Intelligence Quotient by D3
Available on PSP only

One of the first games to be released that is exclusive to the PSP! And one that will challenge the many brain strenuous games available on the Nintendo DS, will it match up with them though as they have been very popular!

Game Overview
Practical Intelligence Quotient or PQ for short (which we will be sticking with from now on) is one of those brain taxing, time consuming games that are so addictive you'd rather play the game than eat or sleep!

The basics to PQ are getting from point A to point B, sounds quite easy however there happens to be boxes, walls, revolving doors and escalators in the way to make life a bit difficult. You play the game in stages, 10 levels make up 1 stage and there are 10 stages equaling 100 levels of mind boggling puzzles. !

The graphics to the game are quite unique in a way that they aren't really all that ground breaking, virtual reality with a blue back ground and a white character that you control, they won't amaze you but do have some sort of novelty factor to it, unfortunately it wears off pretty quickly! !

The gameplay itself isn't all that challenging until you get to about stage 6 or 7, then does start to become a bit difficult, up to then you can run through the stages (to some extent) without to much difficulty, there will occasionally come a level where you don't manage to get to the exit in the allotted time but as you get an extra 3 minutes after the time limit is up to finish the level you'll get them done albeit losing valuable points. !

Actually, we say valuable points but in all fairness they aren't actually that valuable, you don't seem to unlock anything, no extra levels or characters so the points just seem to be there so you can compete with your mates, it would have been nice to unlock extras as you go through the game! The only reward you get out of PQ is the fact that it feels quite good when you work out how to get to the end! !

A big tip for PQ is to turn the sound off; it never seems to change and does get extremely annoying and boring! Switch it off and if you are having trouble getting through one of the level just sit in silence and think about it for a minute!

Our Conclusions
Ultimately this game really isn't going to appeal to everyone, no action in it at all and very brain taxing indeed, it's a great time consumer and we would highly recommend it for long haul flights and car journeys otherwise we can't really see people playing this whilst they are sitting at home. It is a good game and stimulates your brain which is something everyone needs once in a while (apparently) but as a computer game it does strike us as being a tiny bit weird and not really what we would look for when buying a new game.

Overall Score: 7/10
