Game Overview
It didn't take us all that long to realise that Toca race Driver 2 was almost identical to the PS2 version, just like most of the release titles and probably with a lot of future PSP titles it's going to be a case of "If you have played it on the PS2 then you hav eplayed it on the PSP", True, and a fair comment to make, but like we have stated in previous PSP reviews, the thing that makes the PSP title different is that fact that you can play it pretty much whenever and wherever! And we LOVE IT!
TRD2 actually has a storyline, something we don't recall seeing in too many racing games, especially not as good as the storyline in Toca. You begin life in the game as a rookie race driver wanting to make it big in the world of fast cars and beautiful women! Your manager organizes for you, to take part in certain races, like Formula Fords and GT90's, targets are set for you to finish on the podium or to finish within a certain amount of places from Joe Bloggs, completing these enables you to move onto the next race. Eventually, after winning races and championships people start taking an interest in you, as they think you have potential (shows how much they know), before you know it you are racing with the big boys, this is approximately when it starts getting a little tough! Warning: Try not to lose your temper when you start to struggle a bit, the PSP is going to cost you more to replace than if you were to shove a controller through the wall!!
The graphics are amazing, the sound effects are pretty darn good too! Although it looks as though companies are already stretching the PSP to the limits, we know that things are only going to get better. Toca Race Driver 3 is going to be something special!!
