Game Overview
Xbox 360 players will experience extreme online and system link multiplayer action in games of up to eight players. The Xbox 360 version also features full leader board support. PlayStation 3 gamers can join in multiplayer online matches for up to eight people, as well as enjoy system link multiplayer via network cable and split-screen action for two players on the same console.
The release of Armored Core 4 marks the first time gamers have been able to play an Armored Core title online in Europe. The game is the latest release in the historic mech-battling action and simulation saga, and is the first ‘next-generation’ incarnation of the internationally beloved franchise. In addition to the online support, Armored Core 4 features extensive modes for single-players and offline multiplayer action for two players.
Armored Core 4 exploits the power of next-gen systems to deliver an action game whose astonishing visuals are matched by clever gameplay tricks, massive levels of depth and customization and a completely reworked and enhanced control system for the most precise and enjoyable white-knuckle mech game yet seen.
The bots can be customized so much that it's confusing, and that is a massive downfall for Armored Core, it isn't going to help attract new players as there is way to much for them to think about and learn about, too much tinkering and not enough blowing up, in our opinion.
Online is fast paced and makes up for the lack of excitement in the single player mode, if you can get a full room then its guaranteed excitement however, because the game is so involved the following seems to be the hardcore only and that obviously makes it incredibly difficult online which kind of takes the polish of it a little bit.

Our Conclusions
If you wanted to isolate your market then this is the way to do it, with AC4 being so in depth, the game itself isn't going to appeal to average gamers who just want something fun to play. You really do have to be a hardcore AC fan to enjoy the newest edition to the franchise. Unfortunately, we aren't! We can tell a good game when we see one and we do try to look at all games with an open mind but we really struggled to get into AC4 and we very much doubt we are the only people! Some nice visuals and online is great fun at times but apart from that there isn't much else going for AC4.
Overall Score: 5.5/10
Thanks to all involved with Armored Core 4
