Game Overview
Prey follows the character Tommy who is a Cherokee Indian (like the ones out of Cowboys & Indians!), the story begins with him shouting at himself in the mirror of a dingy bar toilet, you walk him out to the bar where his girlfriend Jen is working and getting hassled by a couple of drunks. As any normal bloke would do, you give them a right pasting and then proceed to walk around the bar whilst having this really long conversation with Jen and your Dad who is also in the bar. To cut a long story short Tommy is trying to get Jen to do a runner with him, before you know it the lights go out and all three characters are abducted by Aliens. You know what we are going to say next............it's your task to save Jen, your Dad and also save the world!
Visually, Prey will blow you away; especially if you have the luxury of playing on an HD screen, the graphics really make you appreciate how far gaming has come through the years. They are by no means the best we have seen on the 360 and we are pretty sure that in the next few years graphics will get a whole lot better but for the time being they are more than acceptable.
The storyline is quite immersive, it almost becomes addictive making you want to play the game a lot of the time, the problem with it is that you can constantly resurrect yourself so when you get to the end of a particularly hard part of the game the rewards don't quite feel as good as they do with the likes of Doom or Quake.
Doom and Quake brings us nicely on to a major factor that disappointed us quite a lot with Prey, unfortunately if you have played either of the two classic games then you will probably like Prey but it's nothing different, there isn't really anything we haven't before which to us, was a massive let down. For this reason we just can't see any sequels to Prey and can only see it falling by the wayside whilst Doom and Quake continue forever!
Having said that though it is still a good game, the problem with FPS games (for us anyway) is that once you have played the story mode once you very rarely go back to give it another go, so when new FPS games to get released it's almost a must buy for all FPS fans as its something a little different purely because its different characters and different guns, which, at the end of the day, is all that Prey is.

Our Conclusions
A few tweaks here and there aren't going to make Prey a massive game, for us it needed to be something different, it looks good, it sounds good but unfortunately its just another FPS. It's certainly worth getting if your an FPS fan but probably not a wise move if you want something groundbreaking, stick to Halo, Doom or Quake for that!
Overall Score: 7.5/10
