Game Overview
This year sees the addition of various different game modes, golfers, courses and controls, there is enough added this year for fans of the series to get very excited indeed after the last couple of years being nothing much more than an update.
Tiger Woods 2006 was the first next gen golf title to be released and it didn't disappoint, it was early days of the 360's life when it was released so with Tiger Woods 2007, and having the console now matured nicely we were expecting one heck of a game from EA. If there is anyone out there who enjoy sitting down on a Friday afternoon in the office and having a nice competitive round of Golf more than us then we'd like to meet them. Anyway, Friday rolled around, we unwrapped the newest addition to the Tiger Woods series, booted the 360 up, sat back and waited!
The presentation of the game in general was what struck us first; we all know that Golf is a prim and proper sport played by rich people who drive Mercs, Beamers and the occasional Ferrari. Last years layout, we would compare to a Mercedes, it looked good but lacked that real slick and stylish look and eventually got a little boring, whereas this years re-modeled layout we would compare to a Aston Martin, easy on the eye, stylish, smooth and says "We aren't here to prat about". Tiger Woods has had a complete revamp in the menu department and although it does look very "Golf Clubby" it really suits the game (obviously because it's a golf game).
In game you aren't going to find a lot different to last year with the exception of two things :
1) Aim Marker - Instead of being a small arrow which you position where you want your ball to go it is now a circle which, depending on the accuracy of your golfer, give you a rough idea of where your ball is going to land, so now it is a lot harder to cream drives straight down the centre of the fairway.
2) The crowd. Rather than have a few people jotted about the place generally looking like they would rather be at a funeral now there is real hustle and bustle, with people walking in all directions, chasing their favorite golfer and of course the crowd who are watching you. It's a nice touch and makes the game a little bit more realistic but don't expect the pressure to mount.
Tiger Woods 2007 has been aimed a little bit more at the multiplayer side of things with a lot of multiplayer timed, point scoring events added to the game. Battle against your mates to score a certain amount of cash by a set time, prove to your mates you are the better putter!
One thing that really let last years title down was the difficulty in getting achievements as they were all given out for playing on Xbox Live which obviously a lot of people don't have. Well, we are pleased to tell you that has all been refined and now achievements are given for playing the career mode as well as online, you even get some points for creating your own character, easy points, yes, and it's not much of an achievement creating a character but it will keep offline players happier.
Career mode is noticeably harder this year and your created golfer will need to train hard to reach the top, especially as he starts off hitting a ball like a drunk! Attributes seem to be taken in to account a lot more this year and to compete with the best you'll need to start training and winning fast!

Our Conclusions
The usual update of characters (Ian Poulter at last! Who, by the way, as a default setting, wears an Arsenal shirt!) And courses which is what we were expecting. Some nice addictions with the new multiplayer options however apart from them there doesn't seem to be a great deal different to last years title. Having said that, if you have found the last few Tiger Woods titles too easy then 2007 is the one for you, it's a lot more challenging which consequently makes it incredibly addictive! We're off for another 18 holes around Pinehurst!
Overall Score: 8.5/10
Thanks to Shaun at EA
